Davao Writer’s Workshop 2011 Opening [Photos]
On October the 11th, 2011, the Davao Writer's Workshop 2011 kicked off with it's opening. It was held at the Lispher Inn in the Matina area of Davao City, Philippines, and was presented by the Davao Writer's Guild, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the UP Mindanao Department of Humanities. The panelist of the workshop were Antonino Soria de Veyra, Timothy Montes, Januar Yap, Macario Tiu, and John Bengan.
The program started off with the national anthem, sang by the Society of Ateneo Literature and English Majors (SALEM), which was lead by Karlo David (SALEM president). Jhoanna Lynn B. Cruz-Daliling (a UP Mindanao professor), Dr. Emma Ruth V. Bayogan (UP Mindanao Vice Chancellor), and Dominique Cimafranca (Ateneo de Davao University professor) lead out the introductions. After the introductions, Januar E. Yap (Sun Star Cebu columnist) read his short story "Lugar lang: Ang Kalibutan Kong Walking Distance". Free food was served later, and critique on writing skills were given to those who had joined the workshop.
