INTERVIEW WITH MIGS
As I had mentioned in my 'Manileños in Davao City!' blog post, my online friends, Migs & Cathy, came with a group of their friends to tour Davao City. I interviewed Migs through Facebook, asking him about his time in Davao City:
INTERVIEW WITH MIGS

Migs at Jack's Ridge
JAWZ: What are the 3 main differences between Manila and Davao City?
MIGS:
- Dialects; more Bisayas than Tagalogs.
- No 7/11 and Mini Stops stores in Davao.
- There are a lot of durians everywhere. Here in Manila, you can only see them at the malls.
JAWZ: What do you think of the people here in Davao City?
MIGS: People of Davao City are accommodating and friendly. Like their mayor, they are more organized and disciplined.
JAWZ: What new foods did you try in Davao City, and how did they taste?
MIGS:
- Durian; it tastes like guyabano.
- Ube Turon; Ube halaya and turon in one. The best!
- Pastil; one of my favorite. A meal in a convenient package. Tastes like chicken sisig with rice.
JAWZ: Where did you stay in Davao City, and how was the place?
MIGS: We stayed at the D'Counter Executive Dormitory. It was actually a hotel with nice rooms. The bed was so comfortable, the staff was nice, and it has nice food.
JAWZ: What are some of the restaurants you ate at in Davao City, and how were they?
MIGS:
- Iron Horse: An eat-all-you-can buffet for 99 pesos. We dined there on our first night. It was an ex-disco bar. The food they have is like ours in Manila, but with only a different taste. It is less salty and less oily. I love the pancit they had there.
- Kuya Ed's: An eat-all-you-can buffet with a pet cockatoo at the front of the main door. They have a wide range of food to offer, with snacks and desserts. I personally love the make-your-own halo-halo and the chicken skin chicaron.
JAWZ: What are the places you visited in Davao, and what did you think of them?
MIGS: Samal Island hopping- I forgot the names of the island, but my favorite resort there is the Maxima Resort; the one with a giant slide. I got to experience that extreme slide where you have to fall into a 150 foot deep sea. We also did some snorkeling in one of the sea shores of Samal Island. There, you can see the beauty of some of the coral reefs of Davao.
We also went to this place where you can experience zip lining 70 feet above the river. It was soooooo extreme that I don't want to try it. I just took a video of my friends trying it instead. Then SM Davao, same as the SM malls here in Manila . We enjoyed our time there with you Jawz. And we enjoyed buying some pasalubongs for our family and friends.

LOL @ the Vid….
Thanks for this blog!!! Yeah, I myself was surprised when my hunch was confirmed with this blog that there IS not a single 7-11 nor MiniStop here in Davao City (I’m flying back to Manila tomorrow). Why is this the case? But there’s Robinson’s Cybergate along JP Laurel… But no MiniStop? That’s just weird.
But I’m not complaining — their own versions of these convenience stores are even BETTER! ;D And of course, yeah, the Davao people are really great. Accommodating and nice. I dunno, relative to people in Manila? Or probably people in Manila like me are just stressed with the lifestyle there
