It was probably in late 2008 that I had read about the Kadayawan Festival. I had seen many photos of it, and I had desired to see it. I finally had the chance to experience the days of the Kadayawan Festival, mainly August the 21st & 22nd. When the weekend rolled in with those particular days, I got up early in the morning, put my camera strap around my neck, and walked outside.
The first day, I was planning to go out with my girlfriend to the mall. Luckily, the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan started early in the morning. Although I only stayed for half of it, I had gotten many good shots of tribal dancers. I had been out there for a few hours, and my face ended up a lil' red from sunburn. I took some videos of the dancing, but it was a lil' bit hard with the crowd of people at times. Other times, it was hard 'cause many students interviewed me for school projects, plus many random girls wanted to take photos with me. I also remember some photographer's group wanted me in their group photo. It was kind of funny randomly being in that shot. After a few hours of videoing and taking photos, I went back to my dorm to rest, then rode off to pick up my girlfriend. I remember I couldn't find any jeepneys to my destination 'cause many of the roads were blocked off.
The next day was the Floral Float Parade (Pamulak). It had started a tad later than the parade the day before. This time, I stayed and watched the whole thing. It didn't start off with floral floats, but instead a bunch of motorcycles. Many marching bands also added to the addition of non-floral-floats parading down the road.
Like the day before, a few students interviewed me, as well as random girls wanting photos with me, but not as many as before. Despite that, I had trouble taking photos of certain floats. Why? Filipino celebrities. Since I'm not from this country, I don't really know all of the stars. How did I know then? Well, the same main reason I couldn't take photos... Haha. A massive crowd of people flocked towards the floats every time a celeb passed by. My camera has good zoom on it though, so I had gotten okay shots above everybody's heads.
Here are all of the things my camera had caught having to do with the Kadayawan Festival:
